“Jugend forscht” @ Lohmann

On February 8, it is time for the 55th regional competition of “Jugend forscht – Schüler experimentieren” (lit. “youth researches – pupils experiment”).

2020_JugendForscht.jpg According to the motto “You Can Do It!” the youth competition will be taking place once again at the Lohmann TEC Center Neuwied, the adhesive tape manufacturer’s headquarters.

The young researchers' works can be viewed publicly between 2.30 pm - 4.00 pm.

In total, 71 pupils will be presenting their 40 extraordinary and innovative research projects in the foyer of the Technology Center.

First, those projects will be introduced to a panel of 16 specialists, afterwards to the public. Among them, there are numerous projects from the junior segment “Schüler experimentieren” (pupils up to the age of 14). A common research object is our region. The young researchers' topics are, for example “The Laacher Lake right on our doorstep” or “Bee happy – what are the influences on the flight of bees?” Additional papers will be introduced by the segment "Jugend forscht" (pupils aged 15-21). They question “Water buffalos rescuing the nature reserve Ahrmündung?” or “The compensation measures taken by the Eichendorff high school”.

At Lohmann, the spirit of discovery has a long tradition. For almost 170 years now, the engineers have developed new adhesive products time and again. This year, Lohmann’s CEO Dr. Jörg Pohlman will be sponsoring the event for the first time: “I’m looking forward to the exciting projects of the young – and a bit older – researchers! Supporting young people has been part of our philosophy for more than 40 years. The work done by “Jugend forscht” is an inspiring force for the companies in our region.”

It is especially the inventiveness of “Jugend forscht” that is important to Lohmann – because only with smart heads and new ideas is it possible to create something decisive: innovation.
