In cooperation with the Kreisverkehrswacht Neuwied / Linz, Lohmann wants to help the children to get to school safely, especially in the dark months from October to April. The vests will be distributed to over 40 elementary school and daycare centers in the region, including schools within the jurisdiction of the Straßenhaus and Neuwied police stations. The high-visibility vests are distributed at the start of school and include a short training session. "During the so-called 'pedestrian driving license', the pupils receive important tips on how to get to school safely and how to wear the vests correctly," reports Sabine Thull, chief inspector and traffic advisor at Neuwied police station.
The company already donated 1000 safety vests last year. By tripling the number, Lohmann is underlining its commitment to safety, not only on its own premises, but also beyond. "The company wants to help ensure that the youngest members of our society are protected and that children are safer on their journeys thanks to the training provided by the traffic advisors," reports Katharina Kunke, responsible for social sponsorship at Lohmann. The support is appreciated by the traffic advisors because "in poor visibility conditions, children in dark clothing are often difficult for road users to see. However, the high-visibility vests with reflective strips shine up to 160 meters away, making the enormous importance of the vests clear," explains Katrin Kroner, police superintendent and traffic advisor at Straßenhaus police station.
"Unfortunately, we have fewer and fewer high-visibility vests available to distribute to the children, so we are all the more pleased about this large sum of vests, which means that almost all elementary school can be equipped," continues Katrin Kroner. Lohmann supports this initiative and wishes all children a successful and safe start to school.
