Lohmann presents its first comprehensive sustainability report and celebrates recent awards

Lohmann, a pioneer in adhesive tape technology from Neuwied, has published its first sustainability report. This milestone in the company's 173-year history documents in detail the numerous initiatives to promote future-oriented corporate governance, which contribute significantly to the Lohmann Group's sustainability agenda.

Sustainability Report Lohmann 2023.jpg"As a family business with a long tradition, we are committed to actively shaping our responsibility. The report makes it clear that we are investing in the right strategy despite challenging conditions," says Dr. Jörg Pohlman, Managing Partner of Lohmann. "Our 'Lohmann BEYOND' strategy reinforces our commitment to sustainability and innovation, with which we want to proactively respond to changing regulatory requirements and at the same time open up new business opportunities."

The report provides a comprehensive insight into Lohmann's sustainability agenda. Innovative developments such as the TwinMelt technology, which optimizes production processes by drastically reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, and the ECO range, which enables significant ecological progress through the use of environmentally friendly materials and processes, stand out in particular. The "Going Green" project implemented last year for the sustainable site design of the Neuwied headquarters, which was carried out together with the WZL Institute at RWTH Aachen University, will also be presented. In addition, the "LinerLoop" project was initiated in cooperation with UPM Specialty Papers and Cycle4Green, which enables the recycling of paper liner waste and thus contributes to the circular economy.

The report celebrates the adhesive tape manufacturer's contributions to sustainability and ESG, which were recognized across industry boundaries last year: Lohmann received the prestigious Rhineland-Palatinate Innovation Award in two categories - for its CO₂-reducing TwinMelt technology and for UV-LUX, the first adhesive tape that can be cured with UV light. Lohmann also received the "TOP 100" award for its exceptional innovative strength and the Sustainable Impact Award from WirtschaftsWoche, which confirms the company's commitment to developing sustainable technologies, products and business models.

Katharina Candia Avendaño, Head of Sustainability at Lohmann, emphasizes: "Especially in a time full of geopolitical uncertainties and ecological challenges, the necessity of sustainable corporate management for the necessary stability and adaptability of an organization becomes very clear. Sustainable development at Lohmann is an ongoing process that has been shaped by all employees and divisions for many years."

The sustainability report provides detailed insights into the company's ecological, social and economic initiatives as well as the progress made, documenting Lohmann's path to a more sustainable business model.

Lohmann GmbH & Co. KG invites all interested parties to read this report and be inspired by the company's contributions. The full report is available here:  Lohmann Beyond Sustainability Report 2023.pdf
