Static Direct Glazing

Certified and burglary-resistant according to RC 2 / RC 3.

SDG 20 Jahre.png
Lohmann’s Industrial experts have been offering reliable solutions for bonding windows for many years. Their so-called Static Direct Glazing (SDG®) method, a bonding technique for static dry glazing, offers decisive advantages. Here, the isolation glass unit is directly bonded within the window casement. The result: more freedom of design due to narrower profile geometries as well as new material combinations are possible. Additionally, the even load distribution within the window frame construction allows for a higher stability: a nuisance for burglars!

Customer benefits:

  • Bonding and sealing with only one tape
  • Dispersion of load into the frame construction
  • Relief of frame corners
  • Relief of the window hardware
  • Relief of the glazing
  • Usable on standard lacquer systems
  • High initial adhesion
  • Resistant to temperature, UV radiation, weathering, plasticizers and solvents
  • Stable film liner, can not be overstretched

Products:

  • DuploCOLL® 56056
  • DuploCOLL® 56057

NEW: Our new generation SDG® adhesive tapes for an optimized glazing process

The certified "Static Direct Glazing" (SDG®) with Lohmann adhesive tapes is now even more precise and process-reliable. With our new product variants DuploCOLL® 56056 and 56057 you have, on the one hand, extremely stable film liners that cannot be overstretched. In addition, the glazing process can be considerably simplified – while readjustments of the window pane remain possible until the end.

How does this work?

With the new SDG® adhesive tapes, you only loosen the liner in the corners of the wooden frames before applying the glass pane and remove it completely after you have carried out the final positioning and blocking. Easy handling for a perfect result!

Adhesive bonding on coated wood.pdf

In a joint effort with industry development partners, Lohmann refined this method to an overall system for wood / aluminum windows. In cooperation with Otto Chemie, Remmers and Leitz as well as the ift Rosenheim (testing institute for window technology), extension 5 of the ift standard VE 08/4 “Bonded Glazing Systems” was created. In addition to the widespread synthetic variants, demanding circumferentially coated wooden window profiles can now be bonded and certified, too. As a standard, a system bonded by means of Lohmann SDG® tapes fulfils the resistance class RC 2 and can be upgraded to an upscale burglary protection (RC 3) by means of a rebate base bond. In more specific terms, this means protection against tools like screwdrivers, hammers, wedges, physical violence and the use of a crowbar for two and five minutes, respectively. The specific test procedures to determine the resistance to static and dynamic loads as well as against manual break-in attempts are contained in the complementary standards DIN EN 1628 and the VE 08/4 in detail. VE 08/4 is the result of a cooperation of the ift Rosenheim, Holzforschung Austria (timber research) and the University of Applied Sciences Biel. It is the foundation of window construction evaluation in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as the basis of RAL GZ 716.

Please have a look at the video below to find out how a RC3 testing looks like:

Participating in this testing were, apart from Lohmann, the companies Gutmann (window and door systems), Leitz (tool systems), Otto Chemie (sealants and adhesives) as well as Remmers (coating and glaze systems). The circle of system partners is constantly extended and beginning to be expanded internationally.
